Graphic 45: Magical Curiosity Shoppe

Greetings from Japan, Osaka! It has been a hectic month of May with work at school. Just before May ends, I better share this layout on the blog before the cobwebs starts growing here.

I was so busy that I hardly had time to drop by Papermarket. However, on a rare occasion where I did manage to sneak out some time to drop by Papermarket@CM, Irene was trying to clear the Graphic 45 curiosity paper, which I super love. Hence, decided to try to make a sample for her to let the customers at CM better appreciate the beauty of G45.

Disclaimer: I scraplifted this layout (as usual) from a magazine which came from one of the G45 designers, Tara Orr. She used the Once upon Springtime Paper in her layout, whereas I tried the same concept using the Old Curiosity Shoppe paper. Definitely not as nice as hers, but I enjoyed the process of inking and distressing.

This series of G45 papers is just so lovely. There are just so many things/embellishments that you can cut out from the pattern paper. Imagine the amount of money you’re saving. One piece of pattern paper has like a dozen beautiful butterflies! Glossy accent them, and you have like a huge pack of beautiful glossy butterflies.

I’ve also tried to incorporate the lovely vintage pocket watch and glass bottle by Tim Holtz. I thought they blend in pretty well in the vintage shop.

The background was stamped with the reflections words stamp by Stampers Anonymous. But seriously, you can always use other background stamps to substitute. A good one would be the mixed media stamps, also by Stampers Anonymous.

Amazing $12 Deal @Papermarket

These 2 layouts are only going for an amazing price of $12 only!!! @ Papermarket in June. Definitely not a deal to be missed. This is also my first time having the opportunity to work on a sample. Yeah~ One more step closer to my aim of getting my ideal job.

I love how the layouts turned out just by using pattern paper and nothing fanciful.

The first layout, had those lovely ribbons punched using EK punches. 

As I was told to scraplift the layouts and I didn’t have the punch. You can imagine how fortunate it was for me to just drop by Papermarket@Clementi Mall and get it. It turned out to be a very nice punch and I’m glad to get it for a 40% discount. So if you like it, do drop by any of the Papermarket outlets before the promotion ends.

The second layout main attractions are the pin-wheels and the mountain folds. 

I love how amazing the ordinary papers can turned out to be so not ordinary by just adding a little twist to it. In fact, when I first got the pack of papers and embellishments to work on, I was like ….. Oh no, how am I to transform these papers to something attractive. But I seriously think I did it.  

All in all, do try to sign up for this class. It’s really worth it. You can learn how to layer and create many interesting backgrounds!

Holiday's Fun

Yes! As the title suggests, Holiday's Fun!! I loved holidays, without work and errmm at times, without the little noisy one.

During the March holidays, I was glad that Joyce suggested bringing the kids out to the beach since their childcare was closed. Had a good time taking photos and trying out my new lenses.

This is another webster style layout, from the redeemed papers from papermarket.

Tried to utilize some new items I've recently found and love! And of course, the huge amount of "treasure" I have in my big cupboard. Trying my best to make space for the new items that are coming in.

New love: The beige mesh thing that sticks behind the photo.

Old Treasure: Prima birdcage canvas I've bought for donkey years.

Old Treasure: My huge collection of different pattern Tim Holtz tissue tape. By the way, I really liked this quote and loved how the way it turned out on the pattern paper. I've used versafine smokey grey to obtain this water washed effect.

Ancient Treasure: Transparencies from donkey donkey years ago. I think I've got them when I just started scrapping?

Tamago Memories

Photos from Japan again! Thought the photos from Japan fits the Webster pages theme quite well.

I've recently stocked up quite a pile of pattern paper. Papermarket is having a discount for their members this month. For 150 points, you can exchange 10 pattern papers, $1.90 and below. And quoting Joyce, you can shop without having to pay! 

There isn't much techniques involved in this layout. It's quite an easy assembling layout.

Though I really love the Graphic 45 pegs and how the just simply look good with any other embellishments.

 Not to forget my favourite Tim Holtz new memory bands too.

You've Made Us Complete

I liked the title of this layout. I liked the way she posed in these series of photos too.

I've tried some simple techniques in this layout to make it look more complicated. I've painted the edges of the paper with very pale white paint and some of the insides of the paper too. Then I've used a script stamp to create a faint script print as the background.

I've tried working my design mainly around the bottom half of the paper as I didn't like to cover the birds and nest on the top of the pattern paper.

Decided to try something different by using smaller sized pictures. And used the same old pattern of hanging it on a twine, secured by my two favourite metal pegs from Graphic 45.

 Love the stamps and flower cluster created at the corner. I did try to used some perfect pearls to give it a matt gold look on the stamped images. Not quite visible from the photos. Think I need to work a little harder on using the perfect pearls.

Melissa Frances Inspiration

I've finally completed my first biggest scrapbooking event! It was so nice of Papermarket to provide me the opportunity to help out at the Melissa Frances event yesterday. I had so much fun! From the packing the day before to assisting the participants in completing their projects on the day itself. It was so much more fun than being a participant! The only drawback and regret I had was that I could only look at the participants shopping to their hearts content. I do really wished I had bought those glass domes. They are really fantastic and pretty with Melissa's style.  

I did this layout a couple of weeks back, in an attempt to prep myself up for the event. 

Looking back at this layout now, it's really pale in comparison with the senior designers like Jaz and Merdrey over at papermarket. 

I didn't do much here, except lots of inking and getting the frame up.

I liked the pleats created by the doily lace paper. A good way to save up money instead of buying lace. 

After the event yesterday, with the goodies given by Elaine, some stolen techniques and the remaining goodies bought, I should come up with something better this week. Do drop by again for the "hopefully" better layout!

I'm a Tim Holtz Fan

Okay, this is the last entry for the day/night. I promised. Sorry for the huge number of posts today as I haven't been blogging but I've been creating. And there is just so much that I wanted to share!

I bought this yesterday, wanting to scrap something for myself in the month of March.

When I finally reached home late at night, I thought of making something really simple and fast. Since the frame is already so pretty, little needs to be done. However, slowly and gradually, I turned this sweety frame into some really grungy thing like this.

Ha! Dear calls it a pool of shit. Then later, he was a little nicer, he calls it ice-kachang now. Because of all the red, green, blue colours.

I wanted to created the crackle paint and distress stains over it effect, in his book Compendium of Curiosities (Book 2). Perhaps I haven't done enough of planning for the colours. (that's why it looks like ice-kachang). However, I do love the randomness.

The background was done with the technique I learnt in the online class.  

And I love creating the sides of the frames using all the metal charms.

I really like how it turned out and enjoy looking at it while I worked through the painful work in school!
